Rewined Candle Factory
Timeframe: March 2015
During my cross country bicycle tour, I took a one month break in Charleston, SC. During that time I was hired for a short internship at Rewined Candles, a company that repurposes Wine bottles into candles. During my internship I learned the entire candle making process and developed and implemented a conveyor system to transport the poured candles from the cooling table to the labeling station, increasing operating efficiency at the factory. I also fixed key equipment , earned a forklift operators certificate, and assisted in cost/benefit analysis.
The transfer conveyor belt I installed and the carts it replaced.
Another view of the conveyor belt, with it installed the candles are automatically transferred to the labeling station.
One of the pieces of equipment I fixed was the moving cooling table, above is the belt in the process of being pulled back together with zip ties so that the bushing rod can be put back into place.
A finished candle from the assembly line.
