Gambler Rig

Timeframe: 2018 - Present

Several years ago I had heard of a car rally with the goal of collecting as much garbage as possible from public lands while driving ridiculous vehicles that cost under $500. I wanted to participate, but I did not have a vehicle to use.

In the fall of 2018 that changed when I rolled my explorer, destroying the roof an half of the windows. Luckily, no one was injured, and the car still drove after the accident.

Using a variety of metal cutting tools and a welder, I removed the top of the car and installed a roll bar. The explorer, now known as "ROLO" has now survived two gambler 500 events and helped remove record amounts of garbage from Oregon public lands.

For more information see the Gambler 500 website.

For more information on public land conservation and garbage pickup see the sons of smoky website.
